Welcome

Principal's Welcome Message

St Mary’s Parish Primary School, situated in the bayside western suburb of Williamstown is the oldest, continuously operating Catholic school in Victoria. We opened in 1842 since creating a proud history which includes a direct association with the Sisters of St Joseph which began in the school in 1900. Their involvement continued until 1998. The strong link between school and Parish continues today. It is very important to us.

Our current enrolment is 361 students from Prep to Grade 6. There is an average of 23 students in classes. There are vacancies at all year levels but this can vary throughout the year. Families moving into the Williamstown area are welcome to make an appointment with me to have a tour of the school and a discussion on the quality Catholic education we provide at St Mary's.

The school sustains a strong commitment to the core values of forgiveness, compassion and respect. We are committed to fostering a healthy sense of wellbeing of students with an effective pastoral care system.

The academic standards achieved by our students are well regarded by the secondary colleges. We strive to provide a strong and successful learning foundation for each of our students. We have innovative educational opportunities through community partnerships which include the elder parishioners, local industry, the arts and environmental groups.

Our parent community is closely involved with school activities. Parents make a valued contribution to our school through parent helper programs, the school Advisory Board and Parents and Friends Association.

I trust you will find our website informative. If you require further information or would like to make an appointment, please contact us.

Best Wishes,
